Ask your doctor if your prescriptions are available in generics. Check your plan and see if it offers prescriptions by mail. Cost savings could be great! Shop pharmacies. Pharmacy charges vary. This may not affect your co-pay, but could drive up claim cost which in turn increases your premium later.

4. Take advantage of free health screens and services
Your local hospitals and clinics may offer free health screens to check blood pressure or cholesterol levels.

Take advantage of the preventive care benefits your plan offers. The benefits are there for a reason. This can aide your doctor in detecting serious health conditions before symptoms appears. Maintain a healthy weight and exercise regularly. Stay up to date on immunizations. Getting flu shots are also beneficial.

Brush and floss regularly. This is your first line of defense on disease control. Our mouths can carry bacteria which can travel into our digestive system. Many health problems can simply be avoided by taking good care of our teeth. See your dentist regularly.
